1928, Northern England. Gwen Armstrong is a bright, adventurous young woman trapped in a secretarial job by family obligations. When she’s left a fortune by an elderly academic her dream of becoming an archaeologist is suddenly within reach. It all falls apart when Emily is killed.

But Emily might not only have been murdered, but involved in smuggling stolen antiquities. Gwen can’t accept a tainted legacy, so she heads to the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in northern Spain, determined to find out the truth.
